I purchased these shoes from Sport Authority for my first pair of serious running shoes. Since I am a beginner, I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on the latest and greatest thing. Sports Authority is a great place to buy shoes as they generally have great sales if you don’t mind having an older model of shoe.

The low down: Before I purchased my Asics Gel-Nimbus, I was running in Brooks Defyance. I never had any problems. As I started to run in my Asics, my left arch was starting to hurt and my right foot would cramp up quite a bit. I believe the Asics run a little smaller than my Brooks as well because with every run, I felt like I could lose a toenail on my left foot. Needless to say, I felt like my Asics were completely failing me. Sometimes people blame their foot pain on the shoes, but it often is the activity that is causing the difference….

There was one huge factor in this review. I had never put the miles on my Brooks that I put on my Asics. I went from running 5k’s to running half marathons. In fact, the more I wear my Asics Gel-Nimbus, the better they feel while running.

I would recommend this shoe to beginning runners who are looking for a neutral cushioned shoe. They provide a little push forward with every step. Happy running!
