2010 Race Schedule
We are super excited about our 2010 race schedule* and wanted to share it with all of our readers. See below for the dates and details. Maybe we will see you at one!
- Big D Climb (January 30): What doesn’t sound fun about a race up 52 flights of stairs? Our big reason for this race is a cause that is very near and dear to us, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You can run it too! Sign up for only $35. RACE RECAP
- Dash for the Beads (February 6): This will be Roxy and Pepper’s first race with us! The proceeds from this race goes to the beautification of the Bishop Arts District in Dallas. Competitive 5k $22, Non-Competitive 5k $20, 1-mile walk $15
- Austin Half Marathon (February 14): The Running Couple has to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a race! Heading down to Austin to run with our good friend, @AndersP, for his first half. Registration for Austin is at $90. RACE RECAP
- Cowtown Half Marathon (February 27): We’ve said it before and we will say it again, we LOVE Fort Worth. Hoping the weather in 2010 is a little nicer than it was in 2009! Fees for the race are: $60 thru 01/15, $70 01/16-02/24, & $85 at the expo on 02/26. RACE RECAP
- Dallas Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon (March 14): We wanted to be part of the Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Dallas this spring. We love that this race is benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Registration is at $100 thru 03/07. RACE RECAP
- Fort Worth Zoo Run 10k (April 17): One of our favorite races in Fort Worth. You may not know this…but the Fort Worth Zoo is in the top 5 in the nation! Come out with us on April 17th and check out the animals in Fort Worth…the ones in the zoo are pretty cool too. Registration is $20 until 4/2, $25 after, & $30 on race day for all events.
- Kentucky Derby Festival Mini-Marathon (April 24): Our good friend, Krys Theilen, has convinced us that we need to run this race. Doesn’t hurt that she is offering us free room and board at her parent’s house. (That is still okay isn’t it Krys?) Registration fees are $50 (through Jan 31), $60 (Feb 1-March 31), $75 (April 22-23 at Expo Only).
- Indy 500 Festival Mini-Marathon (May 8): With 35,000 runners, this is the largest half marathon in the U.S. and the fifth largest running event in America. Doesn’t hurt that it lines up perfectly for us to run the race in the morning and then attend Lee’s graduation for his MBA at Indiana University. If you haven’t signed up yet, you’ve missed out for this year. The 2010 race sold out on December 14, 2009. Couldn’t make it to Indiana this year…yes missed Lee’s graduation too. Work…ugh!
- The Red Dirt Run of Honor Half Marathon (May 29): This is a really cool event that our friend Glenn McDaniel is helping with. The goal is to draw attention to the Wall of Honor at their local airport. The run will start and finish at the wall and be ran mostly on red dirt. Each runner will receive two dog tags, one to commemorate the race and one to honor a name on the wall. In a sense, you will be running the race in the honor of that person. Race entry hasn’t been set yet, but expect it to be around $50.
- El Scorcho 50k (July 25): Decisions, decisions. We really don’t know what to do this weekend. Should we run the crazy, hot race in Fort Worth that is run at midnight on a 3.1-mile loop? YEP! RACE RECAP
- Tours des Fleurs 20k (~September 18): This is probably our favorite race in the DFW area. Lots of great sponsors and great race organization. The 2010 date is not set, so check their website often!
- Akron Half Marathon (September 25): You want swag? This race has some of the best swag. How else do you attract people to Ohio? Just kidding all you buckeyes! Registration fees are $55 until Jan. 31st, $65 until Sept. 20th, & $85 at the Expo
- Chicago Marathon (October 10): The big mamma jamma! Since this was Lee’s first marathon, we thought it would be a great place for Isis to run her first. The crowds in Chicago are fantastic! Registration opens February 1st. Register early, this one fills up quick. Expect registration fees of $125.
- Big Sur Half Marathon / San Antonio Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon (November 14): Another decision we need help with. The beautiful scenery of Carmel vs. coming back to the place of Isis’ first half marathon. Probably plays bigger on which California race we will go to, San Francisco or Big Sur. Both of these races run about $90.
- Dallas White Rock Half Marathon (December 12): A little tune up for the big challenge ahead of us at Disney. Registration for this event opens June 1. If the race organizers are reading…please eliminate the double-back portion on Matilda Street for the half marathon race route! Race entry for the event is usually between $70 and $90 depending on time of registration.
- Disney “Goofy” Challenge (January 8-9): This is the event that Lee is most excited about…the Goofy Challenge at Walt Disney World in Orlando. For those of you who are not familiar, the Goofy is running the half marathon on Saturday and then turning around and running the marathon on Sunday. It’s what all this training is for, right? Registration for the Goofy is $310 and fills up fast. Watch their website to see when registration opens for 2011.
