Oh Baby! The inov8 Road-X Lite 155s Review

by Lee on September 1, 2011

There are certain shoes that I always look forward to slipping on before I head out for a run and I may have discovered my all-time favorite…the inov8 Road-X Lite 155s. I did have my early doubts though… I had always wanted to try a pair of inov8s due to their philosophy, minimal uppers, low profile, and rave reviews, but they always ran a little too narrow for my foot. My good friend Patton convinced my to give these a try and told me I would love them…actually he told Isis and she got these for my birthday. (She’s awesome like that)

As soon as I grabbed these guys out of the box I was shocked how light they were! The 155s come in under 6oz. for a US Men’s Size 10. I slipped on the shoes and held my breath trying to make my foot as narrow as possible. Let me tell you…the toe box is roomy! One of the roomiest “minimal” shoes I have ever tried. The total feel of these shoes is amazing. Although minimal, they still provide ample cushioning. These shoes are extremely level too…coming in with a 3mm drop from heel to toe. Oh yeah…couldn’t wait to take these guys out on the road.

I took them out for my first run and have never looked back. I’ve put these shoes through the ringer and haven’t found a single thing I would change…which is a pretty big statement for myself. In fact, many of my enduraLAB runners have purchased these shoes and have had the same feelings. One of the biggest concerns that I hear when someone first looks at the shoe is the extremely flat sole. I can say that I have worn these all over and haven’t had one slip. As far as distance is concerned, I wouldn’t think twice about wearing these in a marathon. That being said, I also believe my running form is where it needs to be to do this.

Overall, these have become one of my favorite shoes and I have rocked these over a lot of miles and in a ton of CrossFit WODs. If you’re looking for a lightweight, level, low-profile, and minimal shoe…look no further. Where can you get yourself a pair of these shoes? Cherries Rock!

by Isis on August 8, 2011

I can just imagine Lee and I saying “c’mon Jack, eat the rest of your dinner because Cherries Rock!” Then Jack responding “right on mom and dad,” while throwing up his rock n’ roll fingers. Hey- I can dream can’t I? I actually think Jack might actually love eating well, especially if we keep finding these amazing products and recipes.

I recently made Pork Tenderloin with Cherry Sauce from the Everyday Paleo Cookbook. The cherries in this recipe bring such a distinct flavor (wish I could insert smell here).

Pork Tenderloin with Cherry Sauce

1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1  1/2 pound pork tenderloin

sea salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

1 cup unsweetened dried cherries (usually found with the craisins and other dried fruit)

1 sprig rosemary

Heat the oil in a large skillet, season pork tenderloin with salt and pepper, place in pan, and sear on all sides for about 5-8 minutes or until browned all over.

Add the chicken broth, vinegar, dried cherries, and rosemary, and cook for about another 20-25 minutes, turning pork occasionally.

Transfer pork to cutting board, cover with foil, and let it rest for 5-7 minutes.

Reduce the sauce while stirring for another 3 minutes or until it becomes like syrup.  Discard the rosemary.

Slice pork and serve with the cherry sauce.

Not only do we love cooking with cherries but we also love to drink cherry juice! We are currently in love with the amazing juice company called Cheribundi that we found while strolling through our local Central Market.

There are many nutritional benefits to cherries. In fact there is a whole organization dedicated to educating and marketing cherries called Choose Cherries. You might have seen them at your last race expo. We personally started using cherry juice to aid in recovery and are happy with the additional nutrients the cherry provides.

Honest Tea is Honestly Good!

September 3, 2010

I’ve never been much of a tea drinker. My favorite beverage of all time is water…but I know that tea has its benefits and water does get kind of boring after awhile. Lee often buys fun drinks from Central Market and I end up sampling here and there. One day I tried Mango Acai White [...]

How much do we love SPIbelts? Well…we each have three SPIbelts and are thinking about [...]
